Bioagricert was born in 1984 when a group of technicians and experts began to work as an independent certification and control body.
In 1985 Bioagricert became partner of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements), working actively for the development of organic regulations and norms.
In 1993 it was recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural Politics as Authorized National Body for the Control and Certification of Organic Productions (on the basis of Reg. EEC 2092/91).
In 1996 it became the first Body accredited by IFOAM for the Certification and Control of vegetal, animal and processed organic products.
In 2001 Bioagricert started trasparente‐check, the first on line certification system through which it is possible to check directly on line the certification status of organic certifications (see www.trasparente‐check.com) while in 2015 it started the on line DTPB system – Organic Products Transaction Documents – which traces the transactions among organic operators.
The head seat is located in Casalecchio di Reno, Bologna, Italy, which is also the computer heart of the whole organization that coordinates all national and international offices and inspectors in: Europe, North and Latin America, South East Asia, Mediterranean Basin, Polynesia, South Korea, India.
Bioagricert is accredited according to ISO 17065 by ACCREDIA (Italian Accreditation Body) with Registration 50B. It is authorized as Certification and Control Body by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Politics (Mipaaft) with Decree n° 91822 of 29/07/2002 renewed on 12/02/2019 and by the European Union with Code IT BIO 007.
In 2017 joined with FOODCHAIN ID, a leader in third party certification.
